Daily Study / Self-Regulated Learning
M’ agapao - Creative Activity Center for Children with Multiple Intelligences - Volos
“The greatest success of a teacher is to be able to say: The children now work as if I were not among them”
Maria Montessori
At KDAP M’ agapao, we believe that learning is not only about memorizing knowledge, but mainly about developing skills that will help children learn and develop throughout their lives. For this reason, daily study within the framework of our program is based on the theory of self-regulated learning (SRL).
What does this mean?
Children learn how to learn.
Our goal is for children to be well prepared for the next day’s lessons. At the same time, to be equipped with learning techniques that help them gain independence in their studies. Self-Regulated Learning is not a practice that fades the next day but lasts a lifetime and yields long-term results.
Self-regulated learning is a way of studying where the child himself learns to organize, plan and control his own learning process. In other words, we don't just tell him what to do and how, but we help him develop skills such as:
• Setting goals for his study
• Choosing methods that suit his own way of thinking
• Monitoring his progress
• Facing difficulties and adapting when necessary
